Hey everyone! I’ve been playing around with those phone camera undertone tests at home to figure out my skin’s undertone, but I’m running into something odd. I did a test at an early hour around 7:30 a.m. near my bedroom window and got a cool undertone result. Then, just after lunch at about 1 p.m., I repeated the test by the living room window and this time it suggested a warmer undertone. I know my skin doesn’t actually vary in color that much during the day, so I’m pretty sure it has to do with the daylight changing and how it hits my face on camera. For example, the morning light from the east-facing window is soft and cool, but the afternoon light is brighter and warmer because of the west-facing window. I even tried transitioning from natural window light to a white LED lamp but still got inconsistent results. I found an informative blog post that explains how daylight temperature and where you sit can really impact skin tone readings in photos, which clarified a lot for me free color analysis . I’m curious if anyone else has experienced inconsistent undertone readings depending on the time of day or lighting conditions? Is there a recommended time — like maybe mid-morning or late afternoon — to do these tests to get more consistent results? Also, are there any solid indoor lighting configurations that mimic natural daylight well enough to make these skin tone tests deliver accurate outcomes? I’d love some insight or even just personal experiences from the community, because I want to make sure I’m not getting incorrect results from a tool that’s supposed to help me figure out my natural colors. Thanks in advance!
